Laura was a very special girl, full of life, fun and energy. She was a very active member of Culm Valley YFC and Tiverton Pony Club, and took part, often successfully, in many of the activities.
Laura's passion was livestock of any kind; she loved them and they loved her! She loved her farming, showing, her judging of stock, her competing with her horse – and all the countryside had to offer.
She also loved to help others and through her involvement in the community she gave many youngsters the confidence to go forward in life. With this in mind the trust has been formed to:
On the 15 th October 2007, Laura died suddenly from ‘Sudden Adult Death Syndrome' -or- from no apparent cause. She was just 19 years old.
Her family, in conjunction with her friends, launched the Laura Persey Trust to try to carry her name, her ideals and her laughter forward for years to come in the form of an educational trust.
It is hoped that from such a loss, some good can come, and that skills that are often lost these days may be carried forward, and that fun can be had from learning within the rural community.
For the advancement of the education of young people in Devon and Somerset in rural and home crafts and skills, agriculture, equestrianism and some other agreed aspects of rural life.
